Trench Warfare was a method of fighting where different armies out fought another .They would use a system which they dug out trenches or ditches. In other words, the opposing armies would face each other with there own trench systems and the land in between each trench systems were land. That piece of land was called no man’s land. Each armies trenches were spaced out in rows. The first row was guarded with barbed wire also known as the front-line trench soldiers. They would fire from that spot. The other rows after that would be used for extra protection, sleeping quarters, or where the reserve soldiers would stay to wait for orders. Finally at the end of the armies trenches, that is where the cannons and heavy artillery are. Conditions of WWI and the trenches were not fun since the trenches were around 12 feet deep. Soldiers would often have to stand up in order to see over the trench and fire which sometimes exposed them to sniper fire.
